Staff
Project Management and Engineering is the backbone of Carlson Engineering. Total project ownership is accepted by our Project Managers with the support of our experienced staff engineers. We have extensive experience and understand virtually all aspects of a manufacturing facilities process, design and automation from utility control to management reporting. We understand our customers needs and design appropriate systems to meet those needs. Our installations incorporate years of listening to plant level operators, management objectives and simply watching plant operations. Carlson Engineering has developed user friendly, ergonomically correct, and properly reported installations all over the country.

OEM
Carlson Engineering has established relationships and functions as an OEM dealer for a number of manufacturers in the fields of pneumatic, electronic sensors, valves, motors, and PLC’s. As an integral part of the “Partner Relationship” concept, we are the interface between the end customer and the manufacturer of controls and instrumentation in the process of food and beverage plant automation. An OEM dealer status allows Carlson Engineering to offer complete turnkey engineering or simply as a single item purchase.

Drafting Department
In-house AUTOCAD drafting service allows for complete dimensional design and reproduction ease. Again, the experience of these personnel compliments the Engineering Department’s ability to design appropriate and serviceable systems.

Custom Stainless Steel Control Panel and Small Tank Fabrication Shop
We have the ability to fabricate virtually any custom control panel you would ever desire. We also fabricate small sanitary tanks ranging in size from 50 to 2,500 gallons. We routinely design and build custom skid mounted systems for CIP commissioning. All internal piping is complete, valves are connected to solenoids and control system is prewired, preprogrammed and tested. We understand that in some manufacturing facilities, scheduled downtime is very limited and these pre-assembled skids provide the problem’s obvious solution.

Panel Assembly and Wire Shop
Carlson Engineering also has in-house assembly and wiring technicians that accurately integrate the engineer’s logic design. These personnel have experience such that they can define possible installation conflicts even before the product is shipped. It is of great comfort to know that the company works as a team and wants only the finest equipment reaching the customer’s property.

Graphical User Interface Software (GUI)
After years of using what the GUI software companies had to offer, we made the decision to acquire resources to develop our own food and beverage processing specific package. Our interface software does what the “others” do and much more. The development package includes intuitive end user screen development and PLC linking plus configurable report generation. We have developed many industry specific reports designed to manage plant resources. We are extremely proud of our CIP documentation and graphing module. This module allows the customer to keep constant watch over chemical usage costs and provides the information required to make good sound decisions in managing labor, utility, and chemical resources. We offer machine usage reports, i.e. production and downtime reports. These reports put detailed production information at the manager’s desk providing both real-time and historical data. We have auto batching and formulation modules that calculate ingredient quantities and report usage amounts. We offer sequential schedule based production programs and many more customized reports to support the food and beverage industry. By having in-house software development capacities, we can create virtually any desired report or control algorithm.
